Join us January 29 from 6-8pm at Createscape for TADtalks — small talks on big topics in technology, art, and design, and how it applies to us as creative professionals.  

Let us introduce you to Lisa Franck is— Founder/Strategy Director at Linguist Brand Consulting, bringing 10 years of experience shaping popular household brands like Sizzler, Guinness, KinderCare, KY Jelly and Walgreens as a strategic partner to global organizations including Diageo, Reckitt, Beam Suntory, Gallo and more. She now marries her expertise in design, brand strategy and semiotics to help both creatives and marketers craft brands that truly speak to consumers by using design as a language.

Most would agree that better design = better sales for brands. But what makes one design better than another? Tastefulness? Trendiness? Technique? This talk, a preview of the topic I’ll be speaking about at SXSW 2026, argues that the best designs communicate effectively, because design is as much a language as a craft. So, like writers, designers must learn the fundamental grammar of this visual language to better communicate/connect with our audience. By revealing the hidden rules and patterns behind the language of design, I hope to help Austin AIGA members create better, more impactful, design.
