As a part of the Texas state project of the "50 States: Artists + Veterans United" tour hosted by USAA in partnership with AIGA Austin, husband + wife duo Tyler Way and Kendra Clapp Olguín of HAS HEART will share how the mediums of art, design, and fashion are uniting the military, creative, and civilian communities.

Less than 1% of the U.S. population serves in the military. Never before in the history of the country has the divide between the military and civilian population been this wide. By utilizing numerous storytelling platforms and outlets, HAS HEART empowers Veterans to share their experiences, stories, and lessons from their service and transition back into a civilian lifestyle in order to build a bridge of better understanding between these distant worlds that live next door to each other.

The talk will include the story of the organization, design projects from the ongoing tour, and some lessons learned from the journey -- followed by open Q&A discussion.
