AIGA Austin's Better Business series is all about creating the space to ask the burning questions, exchange ideas, and set yourself up for success!
Coffee and snacks will be provided. Bring your laptop, questions, and ideas to each session.
HOW NOT 2 SUCK AT PRESENTING YOUR WORK WORKSHOP:
All too often, our hard work fails to get approved or our portfolio gets placed at the bottom of the stack simply because we didn't present it effectively. The hard truth is that sometimes the better work loses out to the better sell. And while that massively sucks, ultimately we have to take responsibility for our part in failing. How well we present ourselves, our portfolios and our ideas matters because bad presentations kill good ideas. So we need to learn how to stop giving them.
In this workshop, we will go through simple presentation “do”s and “don’t”s, practice some storytelling strategies and acting techniques, and learn how to be ourselves but just a little bit better. There will be a keynote presentation, lots of pauses for interaction, group assignments and plenty of handouts to help you remember what the heck we covered. If you’re slightly introverted and prone to stage fright, or if you simply want to brush up on your presentation skills, this interactive yet low-pressure workshop was made for you.
