AIGA Austin Presents: Facebook Analog Research Laboratory
Originally the internal propaganda machine operating after hours from a small section of warehouse at the home base of Facebook, this once two-man studio has quickly and smartly blossomed into a fully functioning printing studio and workshop with it's primary goal, to produce work internally that reinforces the hacker/maker values of Facebook. Out growing its humble beginnings, the lab is now a playground for a designer. It’s home to materials for silkscreening and letterpress. It sits adjacent to the woodshop, which houses a plethora of machines to chop, cut and sand wood. And to top it off, it also has a lasercutter. Now all employees can come and share in the experience of the creative process as classes are held to teach those interested in how to use the onsite tools, sharpen their drawing skills, and over all promote the DIY mentality in a digital focused social media company.
Join us at the Alamo Drafthouse as Tim Belonax and Jez Burrows from the Facebook Analog Research Laboratory share their work and ideas and process as they continue to sculpt and perpetuate a new and creative way of thinking in an industry full of banner clicks and likes. Come for the show, stay for their silent auction that goes to benefit AIGA Austin and our creative community.
