AIGA Creative Space, an after-school design program for high school students, launched its pilot event at Round Rock High School to much success. Faculty for the program included 15 area design professionals from ACC, IBM, Frog Design, BuildASign, and Phunware, among others.
Classes, which were held every Thursday from September 1 through December 8, taught various design challenges such as sketching and prototyping, defining and framing problems, understanding the end user, research and iteration. The program culminated in a final project where all 20 students researched and executed their own specific design solution.
Our Creative Space students were so enriched by the program they volunteered to work with professional design teams during CreateAthon 2016.
